You know those Christmas letters you get where the person goes on and on about how brilliant and intelligent and over-achieving their kids are? This post will be like that.

Here's Sam with his Iowa Test results, which I believe is an exam that you take in elementary school to see if you have the chops to potentially go to the University of Iowa someday. As you can see by the bars, Samson has Hawkeye potential!

Tessa received this award AND a medal on Tuesday for excellence in something called "Latin", which, I believe, is a new language that wasn't around when I went to high school.

Nice job, Carmen! (Her Latin name.)

 

Tessa was part of a fine arts review at her high school last night, and a lot of her drawings were displayed. One was even chosen for the cover of the program! (I'll post that soon)

This is just a picture I really like from our visit to Alcatraz last weekend. The cellblock is only part of the attraction- there were some beautiful flowers and sea birds as well.

Be Sure To Wear Some Flowers in Your Hair

Here are a few photos from our first day in San Francisco. We took a open air car tour around the city all afternoon and made a list if places we'd like to go back to while we're here: Fisherman's Wharf, Golden Gate Park, Haight Street, Union Square, Chinatown, North Beach...

In these pictures we're at a park near the "Painted Lady" Victorian homes on Nob Hill and in front of the Golden Gate Bridge. This afternoon: Alcatraz!

If You're Going to San Francisco...

The kids and I are leaving out for San Francisco today for a long Easter weekend getaway. Here we are in the KC airport waiting for the plane to take off.

Tessa is giving the traditional put-out vacation photo face because it's 8:40 and she had to get up early today even though there was no school.
