Today was Tessa's official first day back at Visitation school since before her operation in January!
Here we are heading in the front door this morning:
Here's Tessa Jean in the classroom with her friend Hudson, who broke his own leg last week!
They are parked at a back table where their wheelchairs will fit. Hudson brought in big chocolate chip cookie treats for everyone decorated with "Welcome Back Tessa" in frosting for his "wheelchair buddy."
Everything went very well at school! She said some of the kids kept wanting to hug her, but I don't think she minded very much. Rehab today was in the early afternoon, and when Ruth Ann came to pick her up at school, she really didn't want to go yet. Tomorrow we will have her stay at school through lunch before going to physical therapy at Children's Mercy in the afternoon.
At lunch Tessa learned that "Doctor's Day" is this week and she wrote this card to her doctor:
"Dear Dr. H,
Happy Doctor's Day!
First, I want to be real angry, but then I'm sure in the end I will want to hug you.
That's happened a lot I'm guessing. Well I wish you a VERY HAPPY DOCTORS DAY!
It feels like the pieces of our lives are falling back into place slowly but surely. We couldn't be more proud of Tessa's attitude and hard work. As a parent, it's a pretty good day when BOTH of your kids accomplish something incredible:
• Blog note: I just discovered last night that if you click on these pictures, usually you will be rewarded with a larger version of the same picture! Cool!
• American Idol note: Incredibly, Latoya fell to the bottom three this week! We need to get out the vote, people! Rally around! Tell you friends! If you vote in only one election this year, let this be it! Latoya for Idol!
• Daily Movie Quote:
"You've ruined that piano!"
"What is the price of one piano compared to the terrible crime that's been committed here!"
"But that's a priceless Steinway!"

• Daily Obscure Song Lyric:
"Oh, and there we were all in one place
A generation Lost in Space
With no time left to start again"
