(Susan): Happy Thanksgiving! This mornings blog is our pictures from yesterday as we all fell asleep on the couch last night. In fact, Sam slept there all night. Yesterday morning while I was blogging Sam woke up downstairs, looked out the window and deided to get himself dressed and go outside. He came up to the office with his sweatshirt and jeans on, boots (no socks and on the wrong feet), hat, and one glove. He was so excited and so CUTE!!! We did get things corrected a bit and the kids went out without breakfast even and built a snowman coming in only when their fingers got cold. They had hot chocolate with marshmellows for breakfast. What fun! Rob's car got a tow to the body shop and all the patients got taken care of at work. We are so glad to be on a four day break. Today we go to my friend Kelly's house for Thanksgiving and I have to take dessert. I better get to peeling those apples for the Herzberg famous Apple Squares.
Mom, where's my other glove? Excited to go outside Tessa wearing my boots so pictures compromised by my stocking feet The elves will have to come back and fix the tree Tessa and friend Snow Girl
Whoa, Susan, what did I miss? Last I knew you and the kids were heading to Minnesota after work yesterday. Then came the snow, and I wondered if you'd wait until early this a.m. to leave. Does this new blog entry mean you are not going to your folks as planned? (You know I have turned to your daily blog to replace "Days of Our Lives" soap which is simply horribly written nowadays.) Please set me straight; I'm going to worry about ALL day--probably won't be able to eat nearly as much turkey as usual! Have fun, whatever you do--and be safe!

What cute photos. I especially love the ones of Sam peering out the window, Tessa and the awesome snowman, and the twinkling lights peeking through the melting snow. Cool stuff.
It's a good thing you weren't planning to drive to Mankato! It sounds like the midwest got hit pretty hard. You fly out tomorrow a.m. and Rob leaves at the same time for Colorado, right? (That was for cousin Nancy's sake.) :-)
:-)
Please wish your family a happy holiday, Susan, and please tell the McGarry's hello for me, Rob. I hope you both have good safe flights.
Last year we drove to NC to meet up with Cody, Amy and Jude at her parents' house, so today was our first Florida Thanksgiving!
I ordered an already cooked turkey from Winn Dixie and it came with gravy, dressing, rolls, and a broccoli casserole. I thought Winn Dixie would actually prepare the turkey, but Butterball did! The side dishes were prepared by various food companies as well. It all came in a big box with a sheet of reheating instructions. Although a little surprised at what we had, it was all quite yummy. The turkey was one of most moist and tender I have ever eaten!
I fixed a green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, cranberries, a pumpkin pie, and of course, green jello to go along with the Winn Dixie feast and it was all very tasty. I have enough left to serve 29 people, but I will freeze some and we will munch on it for 2-3 days.
We ate outside on the lanai at our new patio table and chairs! It was such a wonderful day -- mid 70's and a gentle breeze. It was perfect -- except
that it was just Jerry and I here to enjoy it. We missed our families.
I have an early doctor's appointment tomorrow; it's time for Aridia again. Because of that, I will not be able to take advantage of the early bird specials at the malls. Darn! Actually, I always deliberately avoid shopping on the Friday after. I prefer to wait until next week when it is not so nuts!
I hope you had a terrific Thanksgiving. Please give the kids big hugs and kisses for me and tell them that we will be there in about 10 days!
Love,
Gramma Judy
