(Rob:) Today we're thankful for:
• Our friends Kelly and Steve, who invited us over to their home this afternoon for a delicious Thanksgiving dinner with their kids and Steve's parents from Iowa (thanks, Kelly!!)
• Family recipes, like Herzberg family apple squares:
• Comfort food, like green Jello with pears in it and Ocean Spray Cranberry sauce:
(FYI: Cranberry "sauce" MUST be served in perfectly circular discs that retain the impression of the can, and do NOT under any circumstance garnish with cottage cheese)
• The fact that no one was hurt in my car accident yesterday:
• Body shops.
• All of our friends and family, and for safe traveling tomorrow!
The cranberry sauce I served yesterday was of course the perfectly circular disks with the impression of the can but (are you sitting down?) I served it WITHOUT THE COTTAGE CHEESE GARNISH! It seemed naked without it and I was a little uncomfortable with the whole deal, but I had no choice. I have yet to find a cottage cheese down here that even slightly compares with Iowa's Anderson Erickson brand, so I took a threw caution to the wind and went without. You would have been proud. You could have eaten it without having to scrape off all of the cottage cheese juice. :-)
Your car looks pretty rough. Again, I'm sure glad no one was hurt.
Looking at Susan's apple squares is making my mouth water! They are sooo good!
Well, I must get dressed and go as this is a Dr. Teufel / Aridia day. Have a wonderful time on your travels! Talk to you soon!
Love to all,
Gramma Judy

Cottage cheese on cranberry sauce. Are you nuts? Only in the Bizarro World. The green jello and pears looks great.
Love to All!

The apple squares look just perfect. I have never heard of cottage cheese on the slices of cranberry sauce but I could take it that way just fine. Your flights are in the air right now so Happy landing. Grandma Delores
