I would say it's a blue-swallowtail, but Tom would know for sure or Dad will. I really appreciate all the pictures and I thought the first one was you until I looked closer. What a project!! The outside with the green grass and red flowers sure does look pretty. I wish we could come down soon but I have to be prepared to go to Ohio on fairly short notice with Sharon. The Springsteen concert was reported on the channel 5 news last night and in the paper today so we know its for real, and J. Mellencamp is coming to Mankato Nov. 7. We may have to go to that too. Dad is off playing tennis and I am taking out the garbage and cleaning the bathrooms. How fair is that? We'll be at David's tomorrow. MOM

The butterfly is either the dark form of the eastern swallotail or a red spotted purple..

Wow! I have been wondering what your torn up kitchen was looking like and now I know. It reminds me of when we redid the one on 36th St. in DSM. A huge mess, but well worth it in the end. Yours is going to be soooo pretty!

We close on the condo at noon on Friday. I have no idea how long it will take, but I assume we will leave for KC shortly after, which should put us there by late afternoon. We plan to stop somewhere along the way to purchase a couple of twin mattress sets for the carriage house apartment, so that could delay us a little.

Looking forward to seeing everyone -- especially the grandkids!

Love to all and we'll see you soon,

Gramma Judy

Female Eastern Tiger Swallowtail!

Tom

I'm pretty sure it is the dark form of the female tiger swallowtail. Naturally the gentlemen prefer the yellow form according to my field guide. What's up with that and how does somebody figure that one out?

What a project! And a house full of company this weekend to boot! Let me know how it goes. If it is just too much to have all the folks and no kitchen, I can look into a motel for our trip down for the race in a month. Good luck with the mess. Oh, by the way, one of my earliest memories is of looking through a hole in the kitchen floor of some house we had and seeing Grandpa Fritz down below. Don't know what house it was or even how old I was, but I remember I thought it was pretty darn funny. The pic of Tessa looking up through the kitchen floor reminded me of that. Thanks for the memories!! Zanny
