"There's a dark cloud rising from the desert floor
I pack my bags and I'm headed straight into the storm..."
(Bruce Springsteen --- The Promised Land)
(Rob:) I keep thinking of that line as we get ready for our trip to Baltimore and Tessa Jean's operation next week. It captures the sense of moving determinedly toward something scary and unknown but also sort of exciting like storms can be. As terrifying as it is to imagine your daughter having an operation, we're all in a very positive mood about the whole thing.
Tessa Jean in particular has made me very proud with her upbeat and cheerful attitude these past few weeks. She will need to stay in Baltimore for intensive rehabilitation for a couple of months after the operation, and during that time will attend school at the rehab center with the other patients. Last night, she told us that she's looking forward to going to school with other kids who have problems like hers with their legs or arms, "so they will have something in common to talk about."
We're all going to get through this just fine. Like the Boss sings:
"Dreams will not be thwarted,
Faith will be rewarded"
(Land of Hope and Dreams)
yeah. so glad someone else looked at this blog. love coming here every once in a while = )
